Here is a quick tutorial on how to sew a pretty chèche scarf that will cover your child's neck when it's cold outside :-) You can vary the materials and use more or less warm fabrics depending on the season!
Material
- 2 X 40cm fabric
I combined a plain cotton gauze and a printed cotton by Léa - my collection with exclusive prints that I design for Les Tissus du Chien Vert
- 140cm piping cord
I chose a shiny one for the finishing touch
Step 1 : Cut out
Trace and cut two triangles (one in each fabric) 120cm wide and 35cm high (see scheme above).
Step 2 : the piping cord
Sew the piping cord at the tip of your triangle, on the right side of the printed cotton. Finish by notching at the tip, the end result will be prettier.
Step 3 : assemble the sides
Place the double gauze triangle on the cotton triangle right sides together. Pin and sew. Remember to leave an opening of 10cm to turn the chèche scarf when finished. Plan to opening where there is no piping, it will be easier ;-)
TIP: to ensure that your piping cord is correctly placed, use the seam of the wrong side of your printed cotton as a guide!
Turn the work over, flatten it well with an iron, then close with a blind stitch. Your munchink's scarf is ready!
See you soon,
