DIY - My Japanese belt

- Categories : , Accessories , blouse , Sewing tutorial

A great fashion accessory that is easy to sew and pretty to wear: sew and customize your kimono belt. It is rather large and can be worn with many summer outfits. Here is the tutorial...

  • 55cm of fabric

You can choose the composition according to your look: cotton, satin, faux leather... it works with almost everything :-)  And feel free to mix colors and patterns between the central part and the straps.

Step 1 : prepare the pieces

tracez vos pèces

Start by tracing the rather large center section as well as the thinner strips. Cut out to obtain:

  • 2 X the central part
  • 4 X the strips

Interline then superimpose the 2 central pieces right sides together. I added a piping to bring an extra touch that I sew on the right side of one of the sides.

Sew around the edges, leaving the sides open and closing them once the piece is turned over.

Then make your 2 strips: overlap the sides right sides together, then turn over and close the opening.

Step 2 : Assemble the belt

étape 2 coudre les lanières de la ceinture japonaise

Position and pin the straps on the back of the belt, overlapping by about 2cm.  Sew as shown in the diagram: you must leave an opening on one side to form a loop that will be used to tie your belt. The other side is completely closed.

All that's left is to sew around the edge a few millimeters from the edge for a great finish.

It's ready! Put on your belt...

Je trouve ce modele de ceinturé très joli et très féminin.. Elle convient a toutes les robes amples. Elle les agrémente avec delicatesse.
