DIY - warm minky cape
We enjoy being at home with materials like minky! We know the soft pajamas and blankets. Here I suggest you sew a very warm and comfortable round cape for your cosy quiet evenings at home. Here is the tutorial:
Material to sew your cape:
- 2M warm and comfortable fabric
I chose a fabric cloth with a round price (double-sided velvet minky fabric in promo at the moment)
- +/- 6M bias binding
Choose width of minimum 2cm
Step 1 : the body
Depending on the width of your fabric, cut a square and fold it in 4. Measure the distance between your neck and your wrist and transfer this length (make a small mark) on the 2 sides at "folds". Then draw an arc of a circle and cut along the line.
Cut also a small arc of 7cm on the corner for the neckline.
Step 2: the collar
Cut a piece of 55x45cm which will be used for the collar: fold it in 2 and sew it to obtain a tube (see diagram below).
When you have folded your tube in half, wrong sides together, you get your collar. We will place it on the body. Take your cape inside out and tuck the collar in it. Pin and sew.
Step 3: Snap buttons
Turn the cape and place 3 snap buttons on each side as shown on the diagram.
Step 4: bias binding
Sew the edge of your cape either with a bias binding or by making a hem.
That's it, you're ready to be lazy and cosy on your couch :-)
See you soon,
L.
