DIY - pleated cushion
A new version for your cushions to decorate your interior. I started sewing a pleated cushion cover that gives a pretty effect. I also put a zipper. Here is the tutorial:
Material
- Front side : 1 fabric cloth 52x40cm
- Back side : 1 fabric cloth 40x40cm
I recommend a plain upholstery fabric (cotton, polyester, velvet, linen) which will be more resistant and thicker.
- 1 zipper of 35cm
- pins or patchwork clips
- scissors
Step 1 : the pleats
Take your “front side” fabric cloth and draw 9 parallel straight lines every 2 cm. The start of the line does not matter, start and approach the center. With these lines you will make 3 folds.
Make the folds: count 3 lines and pinch line 1 and 3. Line 2, the middle one, is the fold. Hold each fold with pins.
You get a kind of accordion. Mark the folds with an iron and make a seam on the lines drawn as a marking.
Step 2: assemble the sides of the cushion
Overlock the 4 sides of both sides. For the front, fold the pleats asymmetrically to give it a rhythm.
Install the zipper starting with the front side.
Leave the zipper slightly open. Overlap the right sides together and sew the 3 remaining sides.
Turn your cushion cover over and put your cushion in it :-)
See you soon,
