Hello everyone,
It's been a long time ... I finally got a space on this new blog and I suggest you sew this cute Easter themed item: the sweet soft bunny!
An endlessly customizable "bunny" doll ... Here is the tutorial & pattern ... It's up to you now!
Material:
- a cloth of 35x35cm linen / cotton fabric
to make the ears
- a cloth of 25x60cm fabric of your choice
to make the clothes of the doll
with wadding or a ball of very thinly cut fabric
Step 1 : cut the shapes
Print out the pattern and cut out the shapes for your bunny doll. You have now:
- 1x head
- 2 x front of the body
- 1x back of the body
- 4x ears
-
2x front of the garment
-
1x back of the garment
Step 2 : the head of the bunny
Take the shape of the head in front of you. Draw the eyes and nose, either with a small hand or machine embroidery stitch.
You can also add whiskers if you want.
Fold the front piece in half, right sides together and sew 0.5cm from the bottom edge. It will give volume to your head. Then sew this right sides together at 1cm on the middle of the front upper body.
You have now the front of the doll.
Let's take care of the ears. Arrange each pair right sides together then sew and finally turn them over.
Then place the ears on the head and sew.
Step 3 : the body of the doll
Pin right sides together the 2 pieces and sew all around leaving an opening on the side of the head and another along the body.
Notch the roundings and turn the piece over by the head. Flatten the shape well and mark with an iron.
Take your filling and fill the head first before closing it with a blind stitch.
Then fill an arm and sew as in the diagram below. Then the second arm and legs. It is necessary to make a stitch each time. End with the belly and close with a blind stitch. Use a rod to push in the wadding properly, otherwise it's a bit of a hassle.

Step 4 : Dressing the doll
Have fun! Personally, I chose for fabrics that do not require finishing:
Cut out and arrange the sides right sides together. The outer edges should match. Sew, turn over and iron.
You can finish with a small hem.
I just have to add 1 snap button and then dress my "Ferdinand"!
And you, how will you call your bunny doll ?
See you soon,
L.
