DIY the pouch with ruffles
Would you like a pouch? With ruffles to make it beautiful :-) This is how you can sew it thanks to this step by step tutorial by Léa ...
Material :
- 40cm of fabric for the pouch (exterior)
I chose a "wild pansy" cotton poplin from the collection By Léa
- 30 cm of fabric for the lining (interior)
Idem a cotton fabric with flowers but in another color
Step 1 : the flap
Arrange the 2 parts of the flap right sides together and sew a stitch on the edge while leaving the right part open. Turn it over and iron.
Step 2 : the ruffles
Take the long strip of fabric and fold it in half in the length, wrong sides together. Make a seam with the most wide stitch along the opening. You will be able to gather immediately afterwards by pulling one of the threads.
Step 3 : Place the ruffles
Take one of the sides for the exterior and sew the corners like this :
Place and pin the obtained ruffles on the right side of the piece. It's up to you to gather so that the length matches.
Step 4 : Place the flap
Take the other side for the exterior on which you have to put the flap like this :
Then place the last piece of the pattern ("top of the back") right sides together:
And sew all the way at 1cm. You now have the back of your pocket.
Step 5 : assemble the exterior
Place the flap on the other part for the exterior and sew the edge.
Turn it over. You get the unlined pouch :
Step 6 : the lining
Let's move on to the inner part: sew the corners as in the first part then place the 2 pieces right sides together. Sew the edges, leaving an opening of +/- 10cm to be able to turn the pouch over.
Tuck the outer part into the lining like this:
Turn it over through the opening and iron it.
Step 7 : snap buttons
Place the snap buttons of your choice 6cm from the side edge and 3cm from the bottom on the flap. Then position your flap and mark beneath it to match the second part of the snap button.
All you have to do is fill your pouch with ruffles!
See you soon,
L.
