DIY - sew an april's fool fish
A "fantasy sewing project": here's how to sew pretty April Fools' Day fish either to make a little prank or to make a themed decoration... It's easy, it's fun and it's a great way to use your fabric scraps and ribbons. Blup... Here we go!
Material
- 1 scissors
- sewing thread
- for the eyes: 2 funny iron-on patches or 2 buttons (or even a textile marker)
- 1 piece of piping cord of 30cm or ribbon
- fabric scraps : of your choice ... You can vary patterns and colors
- wadding or strips of cut fabric scraps to fill it
- for the template, you just have to draw your fish or print a drawing easily found on Google ;-)
Step 1 : cut the shapes
Cut out your template and trace your fish shape onto your fabric scraps.
To vary the colors and patterns, I first cut one side out of one fabric. For the second side I wanted 2 fabrics: you have to fold your shape and place a piping cord or fantasy ribbon between the two pieces.
Start by laying the piping cord and complete with the other piece. Then iron on both eyes if you opt for patches. or sew 2 buttons.
Step 2 : assemble your sides of your fish
Arrange the 2 sides of your April Fool's Day fish right sides together and sew around, leaving an opening of 10cm.
Turn it over and stuff your fish with wadding or whatever you have on hand.
Close with a blind stitch.
Your April Fool's Day fish is ready! Should we do more ? :-)
See you soon,
L.
