What is an OEKO-TEX® fabric?

OEKO-TEX® is an international textile safety label that guarantees that fabrics do not contain substances harmful to human health. There are four classes of OEKO-TEX® certification, depending on the intended use of the fabric:

Class I: Babies and toddlers (up to 3 years)

Class II: Direct skin contact (underwear, nightwear, etc.)

Class III: Non-direct skin contact (jackets, trousers, etc.)

Class IV: Furnishing materials

Not necessarily an organic fabric, then, but fabrics that have the merit of being designed in a way that is healthy from a human and ecological point of view in their production.

OEKO-TEX Standard 100: certified from yarn to finished product

This standard identifies textiles that can be trusted. Every fabric bearing the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 label is certified after passing safety tests.

What can I sew with OEKO-TEX® fabrics?

You'll find a wide range of OEKO-TEX-certified fabrics and types for sewing a wide range of projects:

• 100% plain or patterned cotton to make baby clothes and accessories: bumper pads, reusable nappies, comforters, scarves, cushion covers, pencil cases, small items of clothing... and lots of other practical items!
• Cotton or bamboo sponge ideal for sewing towels, bathrobes, flannels, washable make-up remover wipes and bibs.
• Quilted cotton with a wadding layer for sewing a playpen tower, bed bumper or play mat.
• Double cotton gauze much appreciated for its light, airy texture for comfortable pieces.
• Honeycomb cotton piqué with embossed texture for sewing household linen (towels, kitchen towels, tea towels) and nursery accessories (baby blankets, changing mats, sleeping bags).
• Knitted sweatshirt fabric or stretch cotton ticroté with fleece backing for hand-sewn sweatshirts and accessories.
• Warm and soft Minkee for sewing pyjamas, blankets, cuddly toys and soft toys.
